Giovanni Van Bronckhorst reveals the real reason why he turned down the chance to manage a European giant

There’s nothing separating Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers from each other as the Scottish Premiership title race heats up.

Before this week’s round of fixtures, the two Scottish powerhouses are tied at 61 points after 25 games

and have a goal differential of 40.

After winning the league twice in a row under former manager Ange Postecgolou, Celtic will be keen to defend their title. This

weekend, the Hoops will face fourth-place Kilmarnock in a tough test for Brendan Rodgers’ team. In the meantime, Rangers will go to

struggling St Johnstone in an attempt to win the league for the seventh time in a row.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, the former manager of Rangers, says he rejected the opportunity to take over Turkish powerhouse Besiktas

because he had negative feelings about the team. After leaving Ibrox in November 2022, the 49-year-old, who also played for Rangers

from 1998 to 2001, has not played football.

In addition to leading the Ibrox team to a Europa League final in 2022—a match that ended in a penalty-shootout loss to Eintracht

Frankfurt—the former Feyenoord manager also led the Gers to Scottish Cup victory.
