Rangers have undoubtedly spent considerably on attacking talent in recent transfer windows, under both Philippe Clement and Michael Beale.

In an extremely active summer transfer season, the latter welcomed Sam Lammers, Danilo, Cyriel Dessers, and Abdallah Sima to Ibrox.

Not all of those signings have worked out, as Sammers has already moved on loan, forcing Clement to make new acquisitions in January.

The Belgian manager turned to Fabio Silva, Mohammed Diomande, and Oscar Cortes, who all arrived on loan.

However, they may still attempt to reinforce in this area during the next transfer window, with Boca Juniors winger Luca Langoni a possible candidate.

Clement Rangers

According to Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry (16 January), the Gers approached the 22-year-old last summer, but ultimately chose other players.

If they want to revive that desire this summer, it would take a significant effort, according to Boca Noticias, which reported on Thursday (15 February) that Langoni’s new contract now includes a $15 million (£11.9 million) release clause.

It would be the most expensive signing at Ibrox since the club entered administration in 2012, with the Gers spending £12 million on Tore Andre Flo in 2000 [The Athletic, 1 December 2020].

If Langoni makes a big-money move to Scotland in the near future, he will surely have huge demands on his young shoulders.

Any move for the winger would undoubtedly be contingent on what Clement has planned for his current crop of attackers, as well as the funds available at Ibrox.
