Celtic kick-off title defence at home against Kilmarnock
On Sunday, August 4 (KO: 16.30), the champions will raise the title flag and begin their defence of the SPFL Premiership title at home against Kilmarnock.
Naturally, Brendan Rodgers’ club defeated the Ayrshire team 5-0 at Rugby Park back in May to claim the title.
Last season, Celtic played the team in fourth place four times in the league; the team won two of those meetings, drew one, and lost the other. The run began at Celtic Park with a 3-1 triumph and, of course, concluded with the championship match after the draw.
After the Kilmarnock game, there will be another Sunday match on August 11 at 12.30 at Easter Road against Hibernian. Next up on the schedule is a trip to Paisley to play St Mirren on Saturday, August 24, and then Celtic’s second home game of the term, the season’s first derby, on Saturday, August 31.
The Kilmarnock match is followed by another Sunday game in a trip to Easter Road to take on Hibernian on August 11 at 12.30, while a journey to Paisley to play St Mirren on Saturday, August 24 is next on the agenda before Celtic’s second home game of the term – the first derby of the season which is scheduled for Saturday, August 31.
