Latest news: Rangers  have now beaten  Roma to a seal  signing of ‘magnificent’ winger

Rangers now face competition from Roma in the race to sign Boca Juniors talent Luca Langoni ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rangers’ troubles were exacerbated by Abdallah Sima‘s injury, since the club already needed another natural wide player before the Senegalese star went down.

Finally, Rangers pounced, signing Colombian prospect Oscar Cortes on loan from Lens with a view to a permanent transfer.

Although Cortes has made a great start at Ibrox, Rangers are considering other wingers.

Rangers made an approach to sign Boca Juniors prospect Luca Langoni, according to reports from January.

It was believed that Fulham, Nice, and Sevilla were all interested in signing Langoni,

but the January window closed without a contract.

Langoni is back in the news, though, since Boca Noticias reports that Roma has joined the contest.

It is claimed that Boca will consider a sale if Roma formalizes their interest, believing that he can bring in significant sums.

A battle with Roma is intimidating, but Rangers may be able to provide a more continuous path to first-team involvement if Langoni remains a priority target this summer.

Langoni mostly plays as a right winger, and given Sima’s loan status, Rangers will continue to look for wide players.

The 22-year-old has 10 goals in 50 outings for Boca and has shown great potential.

Langoni has been hailed as ‘phenomenal’ and compared to Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez,

and he appears to have a bright future.

Rangers may still hope to get him to Ibrox and form a South American double-act with Cortes on the flanks,

but Roma’s interest now poses a significant challenge. For those who have forgotten,

Morelos’ last penalty was in the ill-fated 2019 league cup final,

when he should have left with a winners medal and the match ball.
