Steven Thompson has already questioned if Philippe Clement can rely on two Rangers players to score goals in crucial situations

during the title fight.

Speaking after Rangers defeated Ross County 3-1 on Wednesday to tie Celtic at the top of the league,

the former Ibrox striker expressed his thoughts.

After 25 games each, Rangers and their bitter rivals are tied for the same number of points (61) and goal differential (40). Celtic leads

the standings by a narrow margin due to goals scored alone.

According to Transfermarkt, Cyriel Dessers scored twice and now has six goals and three assists in his previous ten league appearances

for the Light Blues.

Although he has received a lot of harsh criticism this season, his recent performance indicates that he is capable of performing at the

highest level of the sport.

But the Nigerian does blow far too many significant opportunities. Dessers has missed 17 great opportunities in the Scottish

Premiership this season, five more than Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi, who is in second place, according to FotMob.

Against Ross County, he ought to have scored five or six goals, but occasionally, he lacks that clinical edge. Because of this, Thompson

is unsure if Philippe Clement can genuinely rely on the 29-year-old to lead the team in their impending title defense.

Fabio Silva, who joined on loan from Wolves in January, has been used at No. 9 in lieu of Dessers,

as the BBC Sportsound pundit also mentioned.
