Gers boss has situation to solve with new signing to blame: Opinion
Although Oscar Cortes hasn’t scored for Rangers yet, it’s evident that the Colombian has taken to Philippe Clement’s
coaching style right away.
Although the 20-year-old hasn’t played much this season, the manager of the Gers has been impressed
with him in the training room. His performances against Ross County and Ayr United have given
supporters even more cause for excitement.
It was a mistake to sign no other wingers but Abdallah Sima in the summer, but even with his evident talent,
Oscar Cortes’ arrival at Rangers doesn’t seem to have resolved a long-standing issue.
Oscar Cortes is creating another problem for Rangers
The only area on the attack where Cortes has appeared thus far is on the left flank, where Rabbi Matondo
contributes a goal virtually every ninety minutes for the league.
This season, the flying Welshman has showed glimpses of his potential; his main problem remains his fitness.
With that kind of return playing in the Rangers front three, you can’t dispute.
Although he could have easily walked off with the match ball against Ross County at halftime,
Matondo is producing when it matters most, as evidenced by his two goals and one assist
in his previous five league games.
