Kurt Warner Explains Justin Fields’ Future Status for the Bears

Many are asking if the Chicago Bears will trade the first choice in the NFL Draft since they are the team with the best pick once more.

The No. 1 pick from the previous year was dealt to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for numerous picks,

including the eventual top pick this year, and star wide receiver D.J. Moore.

Justin Fields, the No. 11 pick by the Bears in 2021, hasn’t improved or emerged since then.

An increasing number of individuals believe they should trade Fields and use the

No. 1 pick to select a different quarterback in order to end the Fields experiment.

Kurt Warner, a former regular season and Super Bowl MVP, is one of those individuals,

“There’s only one way to go in this if the answer to your question is ‘he hasn’t proven it yet,

‘” Warner said. “Unless you know without a shadow of a doubt that Justin Fields is that guy,

I believe you have to go the other route, because now it’s still speculation,

and it’s still the fact that we’re going to have to pay him a big-dollar deal whether he’s proven that to us or not.”

Fields has not improved much, if at all, in his three NFL seasons. Over his career,

he has completed only 60.3% of his pass attempts, tossing forty touchdown passes and thirty interceptions.

His career record is 10-28. Despite the fact that some believe Chicago is now in the running to make the playoffs,

the team finished 7-10 this year.

Warner did note that Fields hasn’t had much assistance from talented players or high-caliber coaches, but at this point,

those seem more like justifications than actual causes for his lackluster performance.

Most predict that USC quarterback Caleb Williams will be selected first in April; but,

if the Bears hold onto their first pick and are unsure about Williams,

they may choose to select someone like Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.

The Bears‘ passionate supporters are itching for a return to glory as the team hasn’t won the Super Bowl since the 1985 campaign.
