JUST IN: Serie A Giants Tracking Celtic Matt O’Riley
Matt O’Riley of Celtic is one of the two midfielders that Italian powerhouse Roma is keeping an
eye on this summer.
O’Riley had an outstanding last season at Celtic, helping the team win both the Scottish
Premiership and the Scottish Cup.
The 23-year-old Dane made 48 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ team in all competitions,
tallying 19 goals and 18 assists.
Roma is thinking of sending him to Italy this summer, while Atletico Madrid is interested in
acquiring him.
But he’s one of two attacking midfielders Roma is now pursuing, according to Italian daily
Corriere dello Sport (via Tutto Mercato).
After seeing what O’Riley has to offer, the Serie A powerhouses are impressed and have him on
their wish list.
However, Tomas Suslov of Hellas Verona, who is presently a member of Slovakia’s squad for the European Championship, is also attracting interest from Roma.
The Serie A powerhouses are still undecided about which player to try to recruit this summer despite liking both profiles.
Roma put Celtic’s Matt O’Riley on top of shopping list
Matt O’Riley of Celtic Glasgow is a dynamic, goal-scoring midfield player that Roma is prioritising
for inclusion.
According to reports, the Danish international is Trigoria’s top choice to bolster Roma’s midfield in preparation for the upcoming campaign.
Following a fantastic season with Celtic, O’Riley, 23, ended the previous campaign with 18 goals and 16 assists.
The player is at the top of Roma’s want list because, according to Corriere dello Sport, he fits Daniele De Rossi’s tactical gameplan for the upcoming campaign perfectly.
O’Riley’s versatility and ability to play higher up the pitch in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1 formation had Roma very interested in him.
His arrival would provide much-needed danger from outside the box and increase Roma’s level of threat in the midfield.
