Leeds United set to seal double Tottenham swoop as talks continue for summer rebuild
Leeds United is trying to bolster their team following their close call with Premier League promotion.
The Athletic reports that Leeds United has initiated negotiations with Tottenham in an attempt to
entice Oliver Skipp this summer, along with many other teams.
The midfield player, who only started 11 games the previous season, will be looking for greater
playing time. As several midfielders are being considered by Spurs, Skipp may find himself further
down the roster the following campaign. He wants to play football regularly at the age of 23, so joining
a team that is vying for promotion from the Premier League wouldn’t be a bad idea.
The English midfielder made a huge impression while on loan at Norwich during the 2020–2021
season, starting 44 league games as they were promoted to the Premier League. This summer, a comeback to the Championship may be in the works. Strangely, Skipp was a player for Daniel Farke,
the manager of Leeds, and the two have been friends ever since.
The most valuable loanee at the club last season, Joe Rodon from Tottenham, is also being courted by Leeds. Although Rodon’s contract with Spurs was extended, reports claim that this was simply done to safeguard the team’s interests and that an outright sale is still a possibility. According to LondonWorld’s exclusive source, Leeds United manager Farke wants to get things done quickly and has the defender on his roster for the upcoming campaign.
Tottenham facing a busy summer
Spurs, who had won eight of their opening ten games of the season, were disappointed to finish fifth.
It was a fantastic campaign all around, though, and they will need to get stronger if they want to play
in the Europa League again.
Timo Werner’s contract extension has already been confirmed, but LondonWorld has learned that
they are also interested in a defender to provide cover, two midfield players in case Pierre-Emile Højbjerg decides to leave the team, and another forward.
