Rangers have now put themselves in a great position to win the Scottish Premiership title, according to Dean Jones.

Rangers and Celtic ‘slugfest’ predicted after what Jonest saw in Scottish Premiership

The journalist feels Philippe Clement’s side may win the championship this season,

with renewed optimism at Ibrox under the Belgian.

Rangers are now second in the table with 58 points, three behind league leaders Celtic,

who have a game in hand.”I do think they can win the title,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

“There will be new belief at Rangers, especially if they are given the opportunity to be the top club at some stage,

as it has been a long time since they have been able to exercise any authority in that role.

“We’ve seen that when you’re the team following and catching up,

there’s less pressure and expectation tied to the scenario of trying to win the league.

That might be a drive for the Rangers as they try to win the championship.”

It feels like it’s going to be a slugfest from here on out, with these teams going at it game after game and win after win.

But the Rangers have put themselves in a strong position, which is something I would not have predicted earlier in the season.

Rangers are within touching distance of Celtic.
The Gers have had a remarkable comeback in recent months, thanks in large part to Clement.

The guy in the dugout has radically altered the situation at Ibrox,

which appeared dismal early in the season under his predecessor, Michael Beale.

Beale was immediately fired following summer transfer failures,

with the board taking its time finding the proper replacement.

And that patience has paid off handsomely, with Rangers doing admirably both domestically and in Europe.

After winning the League Cup, the Ibrox side has advanced to the Europa League knockout stages and the Scottish Cup quarterfinals.
