Southampton reveals facts about Armstrong exit and the new mind blowing contract
Southampton in talks with Adams over new contract
recently elevated While Scotland’s Che Adams and Southampton are negotiating a new deal, Stuart Armstrong,
a midfielder, is leaving the team.
Adams, 27, helped the Saints qualify for the Premier League right away by scoring 16 goals in the Championship.
He has been connected to a move to Wolves, and his current contract expires at the end of June.
Southampton announced outside in a statement that negotiations with Adams over a possible extension were still in progress.
The £15 million addition from Birmingham City in 2019 has been included, along with Armstrong,
who is departing Southampton after six years, in Scotland’s tentative Euro 2024 team.
Armstrong, 32, was an integral member of the team in 2023–24; however, an injury prevented
him from playing in the play-off final victory over Leeds at Wembley on May 26. As a result, he is now a free agent.
Adams and Armstrong are both part of the Scotland team that is getting ready for Euro 2024.
“The club would like to thank Stuart for his commitment and effort during his time as a Saint,
and we wish him the very best in whatever comes next,” said the statement from Southampton.
The 34-year-old goalie Alex McCarthy is negotiating a new contract, according to the team.
