Julian Alvarez transfer to Atletico has been confirmed as Man City gives Joao Cancelo clarity
After playing as a backup striker during the first part of the season due to Kevin De Bruyne’s injury absence, Alvarez started 31 of his 36 Premier League games. In 54 games in all competitions, he scored 19 goals, but only four of those came after January after De Bruyne’s comeback.
He made just two starts in Man City’s ten Champions League games. At the age of 24, Alvarez has achieved everything he could have wanted at the Etihad.
According to Marca, Atletico would be expected to hold out the promise of a bigger role at the Metropolitano, and Alvarez would be even more inclined to transfer considering Diego Simeone, a fellow countryman, is in charge at the Spanish team.
Alvarez would not be a cheap acquisition because he has a contract with Man City until 2028. Atletico would probably only be able to afford one major signing this summer, but if Joao Felix is acquired by Barcelona, they may be able to fetch a sizable number of money.
Cancelo hasn’t participated in a City competitive match since January 2023. For the second part of the 2022–2023 season, Bayern borrowed him, but they declined to fulfill his £61.5 million buy-out clause.
Because of his falling out with Guardiola, Cancelo, who has a contract with the Etihad until 2027, was jeered by some City fans when he played for Bayern against his parent club in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal in April 2023.
Under Xabi, the defender developed into a vital member of Barcelona’s lineup; however, Xabi has since been dismissed as coach by Hansi Flick. However, Joan Laporta, the club president, claims he is working to get Cancelo and Atletico Madrid forward Felix a permanent deal.
