JUST NOW: In a hysterical rant, ‘Mad Dog’ Russo destroys the NFL over Netflix-exclusive games on Christmas: ‘All for a couple of bucks!’.
Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on Monday expressed a multitude of issues he had with the
NFL Christmas Day games streaming exclusively on Netflix. The league will play a pair
of games on the holiday. At 1 p.m., the Kansas City Chiefs will go to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers;
and the Houston Texans host the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. It will Netflix’s first major
sports event since the much-maligned boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson in November.
Speaking on Mad Dog Unleashed, Russo expressed why he took issue with both the timing of the
games and the fact that they’ll be broadcast exclusively on the streaming platform.
“Who the hell can watch an NFL game on Christmas day at one o’clock in the afternoon? I can’t,” Russo said.
“And I hate Christmas, but I can’t. It’s one o’clock on Christmas day. It’s Kansas City and Pittsburgh.
What, am I gonna stick the television set on a one o’clock? ‘Sorry hon, I’ll see you later.
Open up your gifts. Good night.’ I can’t do that!
So, Kansas City-Pittsburgh is at 1 and Baltimore-at-Houston is at 4:30;
and those are Netflix games. We gotta make sure Netflix, some dope in Pakistan
can watch this football game; so that’s why they’re on earlier in the day because the time
difference makes it a little more conceivable, because now [Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes]
is at nine o’clock in Europe. So if you live in Paris and you can’t get enough of Patrick Mahomes,
or you’re dying to see him, you’re gonna get a break on Christmas night. Have your little French dinner,
have your six bottles of wine, and watch Mahomes at seven o’clock — six-hour time difference.
So you can watch the game there, but we can’t watch the game here! I mean, it’s ridiculous! All for a couple of bucks!
