See Why Is Jayden Daniels at Fault for Washington’s One Major Issue?

The Washington Commanders moved to 9-5 on the season after a gritty 20-19 win over the

New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome, but it was tough on Jayden Daniels.

Despite the rookie finishing his day 25 for 31 with 226 yards and two touchdowns,

along with 66 rushing yards on 11 carries, he was regularly beaten up.

In total, the Saints defense sacked Daniels a whopping eight times, easily the most of

the season in a game for the rookie, and he detailed that those sacks were on him, not the offensive line.

“I gotta be able to get the ball out of my hands and help the O-line out,” Daniels said,

taking the blame for the one big problem. “I put that on me, it’s not all on the O-line,

gotta be able to do better back there in the pocket, maneuvering the pocket.”

So it will be a day of learnings for Daniels, who, in college, might have been able to

escape those pass rushers, but in the NFL, there are some special athletes,

and running away isn’t as easy as it once was for Jayden.

Nevertheless, the Commanders and Daniels managed to overcome the sacks,

penalties, and missteps to get their ninth win of the year, giving their playoff hopes a monster boost.

While Washington still has three games left to navigate, the more wins it banks,

the more likely it is that Dan Quinn’s team won’t have to wait until the final regular season game to punch their ticket.

But perhaps first, Daniels might need an ice pack or two in an attempt to

recover from the physical beating he took against the Saints.
