Confirmed:West Ham to sign 24-years-old Nigerian striker from Deportivo Alavés this summer -personal terms agreed
According to reports, Chelsea and West Ham are vying for Nigerian striker Samuel Omorodion,
a Spanish-born player who impressed during his loan term at Deportivo Alavés in the recently finished La Liga
season.
The six-time English champions are reportedly planning to investigate a deal for the forward owned by Atletico
Madrid, according a report from CaughtOffside.
Omorodion is rumored to be the most recent bright prospect to catch the attention of Chelsea ownership,
who appears to have a strategy of signing the greatest young players in the globe.
This season, the Spanish youth international was one of the league’s breakout stars, helping Alavés to a 10th-
place finish with eight goals and one assist. The campaign concluded as
the club’s top scorer.
He not only scored against Barcelona in the rematch that resulted in the La Liga EA Sports Best Play Award for
February, but he also shattered the record for the earliest goal surrendered by the team at home.
Omorodion, who is in the running for the 2024 Golden Boy Award together with Chelsea midfielder Lesley
Ugochukwu, Italian-Nigerian fullback Michael Kayode, and forward George Ilenikhena, who was born in Lagos,
has been acknowledged as one of the most gifted players in European football.
After just one year of his arrival, Atletico Madrid is apparently willing to sell the 20-year-old,
and they have set a transfer fee of €60 million for him.
