Dave Bautista, famously known as “The Animal” during his wrestling career, has successfully transitioned into acting, starring in major films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune, and Blade Runner 2049. His latest project, The Last Showgirl, hits theaters in January and features the former wrestler in a dramatically different look for his role.
In the drama, Bautista plays the director of a show that abruptly closes after a 30-year run, leaving its star, Shelly (portrayed by Pamela Anderson), to reimagine her future. For the role, the 55-year-old sports a full head of hair and a rugged grey beard, a stark contrast to his wrestling persona.
The image of his transformation, shared by Emmy-winning TV host Christopher Van Vliet on December 15, sparked a wave of admiration from fans. “Now that’s what they call range,” one user commented, while another declared, “The champ is a real actor.”
