Friedkin Group’s Everton Takeover Expected to Close Next Week
The Friedkin Group has received Premier League approval for their planned takeover of Everton.
The Friedkin Group has received Premier League approval for their takeover of Everton, marking a significant step toward becoming the club’s new owners. Earlier this year, the American group reached an agreement to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s stake in the club and has since undergone extensive regulatory checks to meet Premier League ownership criteria.
With the approval secured, the takeover is expected to be finalized next week, making Friedkin the tenth American ownership group in the league. Journalist Alan Myers confirmed the update on his X account, stating, “The Friedkin Group has secured Premier League approval to become Everton’s new owners. The US group has been undergoing the regulatory process since agreeing to purchase Moshiri’s shareholding. The takeover is now expected to be finalized next week.”
Already the owners of Serie A club AS Roma, Dan Friedkin is anticipated to bring significant changes to Goodison Park. This could include reassessing the role of manager Sean Dyche, whose current contract expires at the end of the season. Despite guiding Everton through relegation battles in recent years, there is speculation that the Friedkin Group may opt for a new manager to usher in a fresh era for the Toffees.
Linked names include Sergio Conceição and a potential return for David Moyes, especially with Everton set to transition to their new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium next season. Currently, the club sits five points above the relegation zone, despite early-season struggles and an eight-point deduction for financial breaches.
