Rangers and Celtic welcomed new players in January, but they will already be spending some time signing players for the upcoming campaign.

Three new players arrived at Ibrox under Philippe Clement’s coaching: Oscar Cortes, Mohamed Diomande, and

Fabio Silva. Although a move for left-back Jefte didn’t work out,

don’t be shocked if the Ibrox team regains the lead come summertime.

While all was going on, Celtic supporters were left feeling let down by the lack of progress their team made in their

quest for the championship. Although Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah, who joined on loan from Norwich City, have

performed well offensively, fans still desired to see additional players added to Brendan Rodgers’ roster.

This summer is an opportunity to fulfill unfulfilled ambitions and strengthen relationships. While the obvious

domestic ambition of silverware is a burden arrivals must shoulder, both clubs will be in Europe in some way.

Both teams have demonstrated their ability to cast a broad net in search of acquisitions, but they have also chosen to

focus on players closer to home and across the border in past windows. Many famous athletes from Europe and

abroad have contracts that expire in the summer. Transfermarkt lists 13 players that are free agents this summer and

may play for Glasgow World or the Boston Celtics.

1. Michy Batshuayi (Fenerbahce)

During the January transfer window, there was a brief mention of the Belgian striker and Rangers. As things stand,

he is free to play this summer if the Turkish club chooses not to exercise his one-year option.

2. Ben Johnson (West Ham)

Worked his way into the Hammers squad recently but only six appearances this term.

3. Layvin Kurzawa (PSG)

PSG’s large loan fees and Kurzawa’s high wages were said to have scared Celtic off a January loan move but he’s free this summer

4. Wilfried Ndidi (Leicester City)

Brendan Rodgers is familiar with this player from his time at Leicester City. In the last few months of a six-year

contract signed in 2018, he was linked to Celtic in the summer.
