Bruno Guimaraes has caught the attention of Manchester City, but the midfielder remains hopeful of making “many more” appearances for Newcastle United.
City are reportedly aiming to strengthen their midfield, with Rodri sidelined for the rest of the season and Mateo Kovacic currently injured. According to Mail Sport, the Premier League champions have compiled a shortlist of targets, with Pep Guardiola personally pushing for Guimaraes’ inclusion.
Guardiola, who extended his contract at the Etihad until 2026, has admired Guimaraes for some time. Although City expressed interest during the summer, they chose not to activate his £100 million release clause, which expired in June.
Reports suggest City may challenge Newcastle’s resolve in either January or the summer. While head coach Eddie Howe is expected to resist any offers, a significant sale could provide Newcastle with greater flexibility under Premier League Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) regulations to strengthen their squad.
