Ultime notizie: Pecchia elogia l’Inter come potenza mondiale: “Inzaghi merita tutti gli elogi per la sua bravura!”
Parma coach Fabio Pecchia jokingly reminisced about a hard-fought previous meeting with Simone Inzaghi,
claiming the Inter’s coach ‘owes him’ something as the two are set to cross paths again at the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri host the newcomers on Friday, and the Gialloblu can take inspiration
from a striking recent tradition as they’re unbeaten in away matches at Inter since 2013,
although their coach insisted statistics ‘don’t win matches’.
The two sides last met in January 2023 in the Coppa Italia round of 16,
when Inzaghi’s side emerged 2-1 winners after extra time in a game that saw
Lautaro Martinez equalise only minutes before the final whistle to reignite Inter’s
hopes of qualification against a combative Pecchia’s outfit.
“There’s little to say about the value of his work; he deserves compliments,”
Pecchia said at a press conference ahead of Friday’s match, as reported by Fc Inter 1908.
“We crossed paths while picking up the award [at Gran Gala del Calcio],
and I reminded him of the Coppa Italia match, telling him he still owes me one.
But that’s in the past now, it was a lesson. The players have changed,
and we’ll approach the game with even more young players in a wonderful environment
“Statistics don’t win matches, they have no value and don’t give any courage,” Pecchia went on.
“We need to approach the game with courage, with fire in our eyes,
but with the mindset that we’re playing a football match.”
Inter are four points behind leaders Napoli after seeing their fixture at
Fiorentina suspended following Edoardo Bove’s pitch-on collapse and have
won just two of their five last matches at the San Siro, leaking at least one goal in four of them.
Parma have picked up two of their three Serie A wins of the season in the last three outings,
beating Lazio 3-1 last Sunday.
