Oliver Arblaster of Sheffield United is finally likely to sign a new contract with Brighton after his departure has been confirmed.
Despite a stuttering 2023/24 campaign for the club, plenty of Brighton transfer rumours & targets have emerged in order to try and change the Seagulls’ fortunes around.
After they finished outside the top half for the first time since 2021, and suffered Europa League elimination, an apparent disagreement off the pitch led to Roberto De Zerbi’s premature departure. The Italian is now managing Marseille, while Tony Bloom and Brighton have turned to Fabian Hurzeler. At 31 years old, Hurzeler is the Premier League’s youngest-ever permanent managerial appointment, and he represents a significant gamble.
Fresh off achieving Bundesliga promotion with St Pauli, he has done reasonably well so far, picking up a respectable 19 points from his opening 11 games in the Premier League which currently puts Brighton in sixth place. This includes an impressive 1-1 draw against title challengers Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, albeit playing with an extra man for most of the second half as Gunners and England international central midfielder Declan Rice was shown his marching orders for a second bookable offence, and coming back from two goals down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 at the Amex.
If he keeps up the momentum, he will be given the chance to sign players that can suit his style and long-term agenda. Here are five that we think could be in his sights when the transfer window reopens in January 2025.
