Rangers-related In his Stoke City debut, Dutch winger Million Manhoef was defeated by Blackburn Rovers.

The 22-year-old attacker, who joined the team in January after moving from Vitesse Arnhem, made his debut for the

team during the match at Ewood Park.

Blackburn ended an eight-game losing streak in the Championship after Million Manhoef played an hour as the

Rovers defeated Blackburn 3-1. All four goals came in the first half of the game.

The Vitesse Arnhem forward, who was also heavily linked to Preston and Leicester City in January, was reportedly

being chased by Rangers at one time.

Million Manhoef makes Stoke City debut

While Million Manhoef will require some time to get used to playing in England, Stoke City, his new team, is very

much in the running for relegation this year.

Having lost four straight league games, Stoke is only one point above the relegation zone. That defeat to Blackburn

will worry new boss Steven Schumacher.

Million Manhoef was signed with the goal of improving their situation, but should Stoke keep losing, he may be

wondering why a move to Ibrox never happened.

It’s quite something going from the Eredivisie to League One and we’re sure the winger is going to give it his all to

remain in the English second tier.

It’s interesting to note that Blackburn, who lost Jon Dahl Tomasson—a familiar face to Rangers supporters—to

Malmo, are also going through a managerial change. Let’s just say that Ibrox won’t be feeling too sympathetic.

Although he was not in control of anything during the game, Blackburn’s new manager John Eustace—who was

himself connected to Rangers during the Ibrox club’s most recent managerial search—was present in the stands.

Additionally, his presence seemed to have had a positive impact, as Blackburn,

ranked 17th, managed to secure a victory.

Rangers filled right-winger slot with Oscar Cortes

Even though Rangers was heavily linked to Million Manhoef in January for a reported £2.5 million, a deal never seemed to be in the cards.

The winger instead moved to Stoke in a deadline day deal worth a reported €4m (£3.5m) which points to Rangers being priced out of a move.

Instead of resting on their laurels, the Ibrox team moved swiftly to negotiate for Oscar Cortes, a winger for RC Lens.

The 20-year-old Colombian is already leaving a lasting impact at Ibrox, and Philippe Clement’s comments seem to

indicate that we may have made the right decision.
