Breaking News: The Warriors have announced that some of their players will not play in their game against the Thunder.
The Golden State Warriors face a tough challenge on Wednesday night as they try to avoid their first losing streak of the season.
Earlier this week, Steph Curry appeared on the injury report,
and the team has now confirmed that the star point guard will miss the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a knee injury.
The news was initially reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
While the Warriors are 3-0 this season without Curry, those victories came against significantly weaker or undermanned teams.
Tonight’s matchup against the Thunder, who boast an elite defense, presents a much stiffer test.
Adding to the challenge is the absence of defender De’Anthony Melton, further complicating the team’s game plan.
Without Curry on the floor, the Warriors’ offense has understandably struggled, even as their defense has held up well.
Curry has played in 14 games this season, averaging 22.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists,
and 1.6 steals in just under 30 minutes per game. In his absence, coach Steve Kerr is expected to lean on Buddy Hield,
Andrew Wiggins, and Jonathan Kuminga to shoulder the scoring load. Players like Brandin Podziemski,
Lindy Waters III, and Moses Moody could also see expanded roles if they rise to the occasion.
The Warriors will enjoy home-court advantage as they take on the 13-4 Thunder,
with the game set to tip off at 7:00 PM Pacific at Chase Center.
