Dean Jones, a former Eurosport journalist, has revealed what he heard about Hearts attacker Lawrence Shankland amid Rangers speculation.

Jones told Give Me Sport on 11 February that until the last hours of the January transfer window, the 28-year-old was open to leaving and maybe moving to Ibrox.

He also thinks that the fact that he has not to sign an extension at Tynecastle despite the fact that the window has closed may indicate a summer move to Gers.

He said: “Yeah, Hearts fans are probably not much better off here, because he still hasn’t signed a new deal, and speculation will remain that another team will try to recruit him. Even in the final hours of the window, I was not offered any assurances that he would not leave Hearts. So that certainly says a lot about where this individual wants to go next with his career.”

Shankland to Rangers is still in the cards.

The chance of Shankland moving to Ibrox in the summer remains quite real, and talks between the striker and the club may still be underway.

Despite the transfer failed to occur during the January window, the interest from Rangers remains,

showing that Shankland continues to be a target for Philippe Clement’s side.

The 28-year-old’s strong achievements in the Scottish Premiership, along with his prolific goal-scoring record,

make him an appealing target for the Gers as they look to strengthen their offensive options.

Furthermore, Shankland’s contract issue at Hearts, where he has yet to sign a new agreement,

increases rumors about his possible departure.

Rangers were relatively quiet in the winter transfer window in terms of permanently signing a first-team striker,

suggesting that they may prefer signing the Scotland international in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

He would be an excellent fit for Clement’s team and might score more than 20 league goals over the following few seasons.
