Leeds United Players Take Up Rugby After Mistaking New Kit for Rhinos’ Jersey!

In a bizarre turn of events, Leeds United’s squad made headlines this week when they reportedly showed up at the Leeds Rhinos’ training ground, ready to tackle, scrum, and kick conversions. The mix-up appears to have been caused by the team’s new kit design, which fans have joked bears an uncanny resemblance to the famous Leeds Rhinos jersey.

Sources say it all began when Leeds United winger Dan James jokingly asked, “Why are there no footballs at training today?” after spotting rugby balls on the pitch. Midfielder Archie Gray, mistaking this as a cue to embrace a new challenge, reportedly charged into a full-contact drill with the Rhinos’ forwards.

“It was chaos,” said one onlooker. “Rodrigo had a go at a line-out, and Ayling tried to throw a rugby pass. The Rhinos weren’t sure whether to laugh or take them seriously!”

The confusion wasn’t cleared up until head coach Daniel Farke arrived, reportedly shouting, “Wrong game, lads! Get back to Elland Road before the press gets wind of this!” Unfortunately for Farke, the press was already there.

Fans on social media had a field day, with one tweeting, “Wouldn’t mind seeing Bamford try to score a try. Might have better luck than with penalties.” Another joked, “At least we know Leeds can handle physical games now!”

While the mix-up provided plenty of entertainment, the club has since clarified the situation. “This was simply a case of players having some fun,” read a statement from Leeds United. “We look forward to returning to football – and leaving the rugby to the experts.”

In the meantime, Leeds United’s kit designer has promised to avoid “rugby-inspired” designs in the future.
