Nacho Novo, a former striker for Rangers, is “keen” to succeed Stephen Baxter as manager of the Crusaders in the

NIFL Premiership. After 19 years as the Belfast club’s manager, Stephen Baxter, 58, will formally leave his position at

the end of the current campaign.

Recently released from an interim management position in the lower levels of American football, Nacho Novo is

rumored to have shown interest in taking over for Baxter.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that the former Rangers forward is one of several applicants who have indicated interest in the position.

Stephen Baxter will have very large shoes to fill if Nacho Novo’s bid to take over as Crusaders manager is accepted.

After spending two stints as a striker at the club, Baxter was appointed back in 2005, making him the “longest serving manager” in world football, according to the BBC.

After taking over in the middle of the season, Baxter first experienced relegation from the top flight of the nation’s football pyramid, setting the stage for an incredible tenure as manager of the Northern Irish club.

Having rebuilt the team to become one of the most successful in contemporary Northern Ireland, Baxter has an amazing record that includes three Irish Premiership titles, four Irish Cups, a League Cup, a Setanta Cup, and three County Antrim Shields.
