Former Blackpool midfielder Jason Puncheon has left his last managerial position after only two games.
The 38-year-old was named Ayia Napa’s head coach at the end of October, having previously coached Peyia 2014 and AEZ Zakakiou.

After securing back-to-back 1-0 victories in the Cypriot second division, the former Seasiders player has departed his job at the Paralimni Stadium after only 21 days in the role.

On Tuesday evening, the decision was announced on social media as “Ayia Napa Sports Club announces the mutual consent termination of its cooperation with coach Jason Puncheon.”

“Our assistant coach, Christos Tsapatsoulis, has also departed the team. The board wishes both the best in their professional endeavors.”

Puncheon was already familiar with football in Cyprus before taking up coaching, having spent the latter part of his playing career with Pafos FC, Anorthosis Famagusta FC, and Kissos FC Kissonergas. Fans in England will remember him best for his 204 appearances in the Premier League.

His first taste of top-flight football came while on loan at Blackpool from Southampton in 2011. During his stint at Bloomfield Road, he scored three goals in 11 appearances for Ian Holloway’s team.

The Wimbledon youth product went on to experience the Premier League with Southampton, QPR, Crystal Palace, and Huddersfield.
