Burnford must wait anxiously before Everton since two of their main players are injured.

When Everton visits Goodison Park on Saturday, their next opponents might be without their two best players.

The Blues’ home encounter against Brentford marks their return to play following the international

break and offers a vital chance for a win before a challenging stretch of games.

Attackers Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa have been instrumental in the Bees’ strong start to the season.

But both seem doubtful about the journey to Merseyside.

Wissa scored seven goals in his eight league games this season, despite missing some time due to

an ankle injury sustained against Manchester City in September. Mbuemo has eight goals in 11

Premier League games this season. In their final match before the international break,

Brentford defeated Bournemouth 3-2, with Mbuemo providing the assist for Mikkel Damsgaard’s

second-half goal and Wissa scoring a brace.

However, during this interval, neither has yet to play for their respective teams in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Mbuemo did not play in last week’s goalless draw between Cameroon and Namibia. Before the game,

coach Marc Brys stated that Mbuemo was out due to injury, even though Cameroon had already qualified.

In the meantime, Wissa announced last week that he will not be playing for the Democratic

Republic of Congo against Guinea and Ethiopia. According to the DRC, he would stay with Brentford

as he tried to treat an undisclosed injury.

As Everton’s manager, Sean Dyche has defeated Brentford in all three of his meetings, including two

1-0 victories at home. Days after the decisive home Merseyside derby triumph, Everton’s victory in

the equivalent match last season, which was scored by Idrissa Gueye, guaranteed their place in the Premier League.
