Premier League star issues desperate plea to burglars after family home targeted again
Newcastle midfielder Joelinton is upset after his home was attacked by burglars for the second time in less than a year.
Joelinton, Newcastle’s Brazilian midfielder, has issued a passionate plea for privacy and safety on Instagram following another break-in at his family home in an area known as Millionaire’s Row. The upsetting occurrence occurred on Thursday night at his Darras Hall house near Ponteland,
around 20 minutes outside Newcastle, during the current international break. It was the second burglary in a year, following a string of high-profile break-ins at the houses of Jack Grealish and Raheem Stirling.
The player, whose full name is Joelinton Cássio Apolinário de Lira, issued a statement on Instagram today, urging anyone thinking of doing something similar to allow him and his family to “live in peace”. This second break-in comes after a prior incident in January of this year, when three guys targeted Joelinton’s home when he was at St James’ Park for a match versus Manchester City.
At the time, a Northumbria Police spokesperson stated: “Thankfully, the homeowner was not at home, but had received a security alert on their phone and immediately reported concerns to police.” Officers were dispatched to the house, but no one was found inside, according to the police.
The Brazilian player wrote on social media today, “Our home was broken into again. To anyone considering doing this, please be aware that there is nothing valuable left here! What matters most to us is the protection of our family and our children’s ability to grow up fearlessly.
“We want a neighborhood where our children, and everyone else’s children, feel safe. We ask that our home be treated as a safe location for our family. “We just want to live in peace.”
Joelinton joined the club in 2019 for an estimated £40 million, and he inked a new long-term contract in April this year. The 28-year-old midfielder lives with his wife Thays Gondim, whom he married in May this year, and their three small children.
According to local news site ChronicleLive, Northumbria Police confirmed receiving a burglary report on Thursday, November 14, evening.
A police spokeswoman stated, “Shortly after 7.35pm yesterday, police received a report of a burglary at an address in Darras Hall.” It was stated that criminals had penetrated the premises. Officers responded to the spot, however people suspected of involvement fled the area. Enquiries are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances underlying the report.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Northumbria Police on social media, via the force website or via 101, quoting reference number NP-20241114-0951.
