Philippe Clement  steps up Rangers plan to avoid being banned from Champions League

Jose Cifuentes won’t be returning to Rangers at the end of his loan to Cruzeiro, according to the Brazilian side’s manager.

Clement has made significant adjustments to the Rangers’ playing style,

as well as the energy and ferocity that he requires in each game.

With 19 wins in 23 games, the Light Blues are now a significant danger,

more so than they have been during Steven Gerrard’s stay,

and major credit must be given to Clement’s transformation of the club.

Cifuentes, 24, made only nine SPFL appearances,

and Rangers have now confirmed his loan runs through 2024,

with Larcamon “sure” he will join Cruzeiro permanently.

“The deal is complete,” he told the Daily Record on February 10.

We have the option of purchasing Jose Cifuentes at the end of his loan,

and I am confident that will happen. He is a very complete player who will contribute significantly to the club.

“Jose has numerous strengths in his game.

He is very comfortable on the ball and will also offer aggression to the team.

He will greatly benefit our midfield.

He will be a valuable addition to the squad,

and we aim to get him on board as soon as possible.”

Cifuentes’ permanent Rangers exit is’sure’.

Larcamon appears certain that the permanent trade will be completed,

although it was only half a season ago that Michael Beale made similar claims regarding the Ecuadorian international.

Clearly, they were incorrect at the time,

as Cifuentes was unable to establish himself in a Light Blues shirt and his previous boss was fired.

The former LAFC player’s opportunity under Philippe Clement was probably squandered

when he was sent off against Dundee on December 9th,

in what would be his final league game.

That period appeared to be his best chance to break into the club, with Nico Raskin,

Tom Lawrence, and Ryan Jack all out,

but his suspension for the Viaplay Cup final victory summed up an unhappy Rangers career.
