After his loan to Cruzeiro expires, Jose Cifuentes won’t be coming back to Rangers, the management of the Brazilian team has announced.

After having a difficult half-season with the Light Blues, the Ibrox midfielder completed a temporary move to South

America, and his new manager, Nicolas Larcamon, is certain that the permanent option in his contract will be exercised.

Cifuentes, 24, appeared in just nine SPFL games. Rangers has now confirmed that Cifuentes will be on loan to them

till 2024. Larcamon is “sure” he will now be joining Cruzeiro on a permanent basis.

“The deal is complete,” he stated, as reported by the Daily Record on February 10. At the conclusion of Jose

Cifuentes’ loan, we have the option to buy him, and I have no doubt that will happen. He will be a huge asset to the

club and is a very complete player.

“Jose’s game is full with attributes. He will also provide aggression to the team and is extremely at ease with the ball.

He’ll be a huge asset to our midfield. We want to get him on the team as soon

as possible because he will be a great asset.

Permanent Rangers exit for Cifuentes is ‘sure’

Larcamon sounds confident that the permanent deal will go through, but it was only half a season ago that Michael

Beale was making similar proclamations about the Ecuadorian international.

With Cifuentes never being able to make an impression in a Light Blues shirt and his old manager being fired, it is

evident that they weren’t true at the time.

The former LAFC player’s opportunity to play for Philippe Clement was undoubtedly lost when he was sent off

harshly during his final league game on December 9 against Dundee.

With players like Nico Raskin, Tom Lawrence, and Ryan Jack sidelined, that seemed to be his big chance to make an

impact on the squad. However, his suspension for the Rangers’ victory in the

Viaplay Cup final sealed an unhappy career.

It seems like it will be the best course of action for everyone involved if he performs as his new manager anticipates

and the option is accepted.

With injured options back and Mohamed Diomande signing in January, the Gers aren’t missing him on current

form. Cifuentes also had plenty of suitors, so his reputation can’t have taken a major hit.

A commentator has made a prediction on what Light Blues supporters will want to see Scott Brown “squirm” at Ibrox in other Rangers news.
