OFFICIAL: Brighton Hove Albion sacks Roberto De Zerbi on mutual consent, set to bring in Enzo Maresca on a four years contract – Personal terms agreed.
The former West Ham United assistant manager of former City manager Manuel Pellegrini,
the Italian originally joined the Club in the summer of 2020 as Head Coach of our Elite Development Squad.
At the end of his debut season, he led City to their first-ever Premier League 2 championship.
He would experience instant success at the Academy Stadium.
Enzo left the City Football Academy in May 2021 to accept the position of manager at Parma,
and he returned the following summer to work in Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff
As a result, he played a crucial role in our first team coaching setup during our incredible 2022–2023 season,
which saw us win the Treble and earn our first title as Champions of Europe.
In response to Maresca’s departure, Director of Football Txiki Begiristain stated,
“Enzo has played an important role in what has been a remarkable season for Manchester City.”
“He brought those same qualities to our first team set-up, having already experienced success with our Elite Development Squad,
and Pep, his backroom team, and the Club as a whole have appreciated his efforts.”
