Alistair Johnston sustains a fracture as Celtics suffer an injury

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic,

expressed concern over a potential long-term absence for right-back Alistair Johnston after disclosing that the player had a head fracture during the midweek victory against Hibernian at Easter Road.

Nectarios Triantis gave Johnston a heavy blow to the side of his head, resulting in the first of Celtic’s two penalties of the game.

The Canadian needed extensive medical attention before Adam Idah scored from the spot.

Although Rodgers is hopeful that a scan will reveal a positive prognosis,

he is bracing himself for the worse given how his injury-plagued team has performed this season.

Rodgers stated, “He won’t be available for the weekend.”

“We believe he may have a minor head fracture on the side.

We are merely waiting to find out; we have no idea [how long he will be gone].

“Hopefully, today [Friday] will bring the scan results.” Simply said,

there seem to be a lot of ongoing problems this season, particularly with many of our starting players.

“We’ll observe. Fingers crossed that everything works out and he won’t be absent for too long.

In the event that Johnston is sidelined for an extended amount of time, Rodgers can rest easy knowing that Anthony Ralston can step in and that Greg Taylor,

on the other side of the Celtic defense, is almost ready to return.

“Hopefully, today [Friday] will bring the scan results.

” To put it plainly, a lot of the problems we’ve had this season look to be persistent, especially with many of our starting players.

“We’ll pay attention. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly and he won’t be gone for too long.

If Johnston is out for a lengthy period of time, Rodgers may relax knowing that Greg Taylor, the other member of the Celtic defense, is almost ready to return and that Anthony Ralston can fill in.
