SPFL criticise ‘factual inaccuracies’ of Premiership 6 letter amid review dispute-report
Six Premiership clubs expressed reservations about the “independence and transparency”
of a study on the SPFL’s governance. The SPFL responded with a retaliation.
Aberdeen, Livingston, Motherwell, St Johnstone, St Mirren, and Rangers all issued statements
denouncing the body, stating that they have “serious concerns” about the findings and that they
are in the process of obtaining “full clarity.
The SPFL stated that a review of the game’s governance conducted by auditors Henderson
Loggie revealed “strong” and “a diverse range of skills” in the organization’s business understanding.
They have since issued a statement on the situation.
“We can confirm that yesterday we received a letter on behalf of six Premiership Clubs,
” an SPFL spokeswoman stated.
Numerous factual errors were in the letter, which we have since corrected with those clubs.
“We look forward to discussing the recommendations of the independent governance review
with all Premiership Clubs at a meeting soon, once the process has been completed.”
After receiving the information, SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan delivered a statement
that caught several clubs off guard.
It is acknowledged that neither the member clubs nor the remainder of the SPFL board saw
the statement before to it.
