Philippe Clement believes he has no objections to the Scottish Football Association’s decision to assign referee

Willie Collum to tomorrow’s Scottish Cup match between Rangers and Ayr United.

Whistler Collum will return to officiate the Light Blues for the first time since

the contentious Old Firm clash with Celtic on December 30,

which the Hoops won narrowly 2-1.

Rangers were outraged when Celtic fullback Alastair Johnston was not punished for a handball inside the penalty box,

but it was later found that a spot-kick was not granted because Gers striker Abdullah Sima was caught offside in the build-up.

As a result, irate Ibrox officials filed a complaint with the SPFL,

requesting that Collum not referee any more of their games in the future.

The club met with the governing body but had their appeal dismissed,

so Collum returned to Ibrox to take charge of the game against Scott Brown’s Ayr United on Saturday evening.

Belgian manager Clement is certain that he has no problems with the SFA’s decision and

dismisses any concept of a referee being prejudiced against one club.

He also disclosed that he had no involvement in the club’s appeal to the SFA.

He stated, “I am pleased to be honest. When I believe a referee is not neutral, I immediately quit my job.

So I’m glad we can put the past behind us.

The former Monaco manager confessed that he was not involved in any of the discussions surrounding Collum’s hiring for the cup tie,

but that he would like to take a more active role in procedures if a similar situation arose in the future.

He added, “No. That is something for the club, and we discussed it. But that will happen in the future.
