Philippe Clement has given Celtics every reason to fear – Sky Sports pundit
Kris Boyd has given his thoughts on Rangers and Celtic’s chances of winning the SPFL title, as well as Philippe Clement’s ability to change the atmosphere at Ibrox.
He’s noticed that everyone at Gers’ home is smiling now that their team has re-entered the title chase.
Despite losing the Old Firm, they have one game in hand on Brendan Rodgers’ team and are only three points behind them.
Boyd told Sky Sports on February 8: “We can speak about managers and all the work they put in on the training field,
but when you start winning football games, you start to believe, and that is exactly what Rangers are doing right now.
“They suffered a setback when they went to Celtic Park and were defeated, but they got back on the horse and have gone again.
“When Clement mentions turning up at Ibrox, everyone smiles. Everyone at Rangers expects the squad to win football games,
and the supporters are fully supportive. They sense that something is brewing.
“However, it ultimately boils down to one thing—winning football games. When it happens, grins appear.
“There will be a lot of chopping and changing between now and the end of the season.” There will be twists and turns,
but the good news for Scottish football is that we already have a title race and we’ve not had it for a while.
“Celtic ran away with it for years, and Rangers did the same when they won it. I don’t think they’re the best Old Firm clubs we’ve seen,
but there will be plenty of excitement between now and the end of the season.”
Rangers and Clement give Celtic reason to dread.
Boyd’s appraisal of Rangers’ comeback under Clement rings true, reinforcing the notion that something special is brewing at Ibrox.
Despite falling short against Celtic in the Old Firm, the Gers’ quick recovery and proximity to their opponents on the table indicate a credible title push.
Boyd aptly captures the infectious excitement that pervades the club, with players, staff, and supporters all encouraged by their recent performance.
Furthermore, Boyd’s recognition of the rarity of a genuine title competition in Scottish football emphasizes the importance of the club’s recovery.
For years, the Hoops’ supremacy allowed little room for suspense in the title race, but with the Ibrox club biting at their heels, the situation has changed drastically.
Rangers emerge as the favourites in the title race, but the season’s twists and turns have still to unfold, so it’s too early to write anyone off at this point.
