Philippe Clement set to sign James Tavernier’s competitor after his flopped performance at Ibrox
Derek Ferguson has informed Rangers that, in light of James Tavernier’s dismal recent results,
they need to start hunting for rivals for him at Ibrox.
Ferguson stated that changes needed to be made since the skipper has not been able to make an impression
since his error in the 3-3 draw with Celtic at Ibrox.
“We need to get someone else in there who is going to challenge for that position. I’m not saying bump him.”
After Rangers’ performances, James Tavernier was criticized.
Tavernier is frequently held to a higher standard than his colleagues because he is the captain and a pillar of the
first team at Ibrox, but that shouldn’t detract from criticism when it is well-deserved.
Even though he is frequently used as a scapegoat, his performances in the previous three games in Rangers’
winless streak have been lackluster and stale, which has made it difficult for him to have an impact other from
his typical goal-scoring antics.
Four Lads Had A Dream even went so far as to call him “absolutely awful” following the 3-2 loss over Ross
County, indicating that supporters are starting to notice the captain’s decline in performance.
Tavernier will need to step up quickly or else he runs the risk of being replaced, like Borna Barisic did when he
was a fan favorite at Ibrox until Ridvan Yilmaz, who was first competitively strong, overshadowed his more
experienced colleague.
