Newcastle have struggled this season in central defence – but a new signing could be set to help their problems

A highly regarded center back who has drawn comparisons to Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is being linked to Newcastle United.

With their long-running chase of Marc Guehi ultimately failing to materialize,

Newcastle’s summer transfer season was somewhat of a disaster.

With Sven Botman still sidelined after cruciate ligament surgery,

that has hurt the Magpies a little this season.

Because of this, Eddie Howe and his hiring team have begun searching for alternative center-back options throughout Europe and may be planning a move in January.

Vamos Mi Sevilla claims that Newcastle is considering acquiring Sevilla’s Loic Bade after

the Frenchman pleased the staff at St. James’ Park.

Van Dijk’s Liverpool contract is about to expire in the summer,

and Bade has frequently been mentioned as a potential replacement for the Dutchman at Anfield. However, according to the most recent source, Newcastle is prepared to go,

with the prospect of more frequent first team action in the northeast.

Although Bade has a €50 million release clause, the report states that Newcastle will attempt to persuade Sevilla to sell the defender for €30 million, which is significantly less than his €20 million Transfermarkt valuation. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona are all listed as interested in Bade, too

Though he is yet to make his debut for the France national team,

Bade has received several call ups and even won an Olympic silver medal with France U23s in the summer.

The 24-year-old has been a regular in the Sevilla first team this season, too, starting eight of their 10 La Liga games.
