Rangers demand ‘very high’ fee to sell player, they want £5m+ now – report
According to Kadir Cetincali, Rangers have placed a £5.5 million price tag on Ridvan Yilmaz in response to
Galatasaray’s January transfer interest.
The Germans have requested a “very high” transfer fee for the full-back and want the money immediately, according to a
journalist from Ajans1905 who reported on January 22.
As per Mustafa Ozgur Sancar, Yilmaz is the only active target for Rangers this month, and it is thought that
talks between Galatasaray and the player are presently underway.
Only a matter of time
Understandably, Rangers are asking for a significant bid for Yilmaz after signing him from Besiktas for an initial fee of £3.4million,
rising to £5million with add-ons, as per BBC Sport.
Having signed a five-year deal in July 2022, it has been a disappointing Ibrox career for the 22-year-old.
Despite making 30 appearances since Philippe Clement has been very open with his desire to bring in a new left-back.
It’s possible that Yilmaz and Borna Barisic fall short of the caliber of play that the Belgian coach demands from his team.
However, £5.5 million does seem excessive for a player who, should Rangers find a replacement, will no longer be required at Ibrox.
It will depend on how desperate Galatasaray are to bring in the defender, who has won six caps for Turkey at international
level and has previous experience in that top tier.
Rangers may have to lower their asking price if they are to offload Yilmaz during the January transfer window,
and if they can manage that soon, it would open up more fees to bring in another player.
