Flesh news: Rodgers explains the “disappearing” midfielder’s enigma.
Rodgers explains the “disappearing” midfielder’s enigma.
The young Norwegian, who was signed in the summer of 2023,
was in the starting lineup at the beginning of the previous campaign but
appeared to fall behind Daniel Kelly after the year ended.
Holm played three games in August as a substitute, but Luke McCowan’s
arrival increased competition for midfield spots because the former
Valerenga player was unable to make the matchday squad and was not included in the
25 players selected for Champions League duty.
Holm’s absence from the first squad photo call prompted more speculation,
but he was not included in the friendly against Sligo Rovers last month,
which appeared to be an opening.
When asked about injury concerns at today’s press conference,
Rodgers offered details regarding the little seen Holm.
We’re in a great position. Everyone is healthy and in good shape.
The only one we have is Odin (Thiago Holm), who has been absent with his calves for a short time.
Apart from that, though, I’m quite pleased that we’ve entered this phase in a fairly healthy manner.
All is well in terms of fitness.
Callum McGregor, Adam Idah, and Nicolas Kuhn’s availability adds skill and depth to the squad for Saturday’s game against Aberdeen.
A loan move or permanent transfer in January seems like the obvious next step, although it is difficult to see how Holm can salvage his Celtic career unless there is a wave of injuries.
