JUST IN: Fulham set to sign Palmeiras striker Flaco López as Muniz replacement

Fulham are keeping an eye on Palmeiras striker Flaco López, as revealed by Brazilian journalist Diego Firmino.

The news is likely tied to Rodrigo Muniz’s expected move to Atalanta. If that deal goes through, it would leave a hole in Fulham’s attack – one López could be drafted in to fill without much bedding-in time.

Marco Silva’s side are on the hunt for a centre-forward who can hit the ground running, and the 24-year-old Argentine has now made it onto their radar.

At Palmeiras, López is technically a back-up, but his numbers say otherwise. Even without a regular starting spot, he’s managed 39 appearances this season, scoring 13 goals and chipping in with four assists.

Those stats have turned him into one of the most effective attacking weapons at the club, which is why news of Fulham sniffing around has reportedly dropped like a bomb in the Brazilian camp.

There’s a catch, though. Monterrey have already tested the waters with a £9.5m bid, which Palmeiras flatly rejected. The feeling in Brazil is that the club isn’t in the mood to let him go, unless someone shows up with an offer so big it makes them think twice.
