HERE WE GO: Rangers have confirmed the signing of Ibrahim Adel, an Egypt star and free agency.
Rangers will need to spend £5 million in order to acquire Ibrahim Adel, an Egyptian star.
The Ibrox club is reportedly interested in the Pyramids FC winger after being impressed by his Olympic performances in Paris this summer,
according to sources in Cairo.
However, Record Sport has been informed that the Light Blues must move quickly to sign the 23-year-old attacker before Friday’s transfer deadline,
as Leicester and Ipswich, two new Premier League teams, are also considering a move.
Although Adel hasn’t ruled out using Ibrox as a stepping stone first, his desired move would be to the English top flight.
Rangers insiders maintain that they have not formally approached the player,
but as the summer window draws to a close, his representation are preparing for talks.
At the Games in France this summer, Adel was Egypt’s most impressive performer.
He scored both goals in the Pharaohs’ 2-1 group stage victory over eventual gold medal winners Spain. He guided his country to the semifinals and came very close to placing on the podium.
Ahead of Sunday’s first Old Firm match of the new season, Philippe Clement is eager to expand his offensive options.
Before the trip to Parkhead, he is worried about Oscar Cortes’ fitness because he lost the services of Abdallah Sima and Kemar Roofe from the team from the previous season.
Todd Cantwell and Ianis Hagi have both been placed on the transfer list, meaning they are no longer part of the Belgian first team.
Adel is the most recent name to be linked to a move to Glasgow; Clement and his hiring manager,
Nils Koppen, are also considering Benfica forward Tiago Gouveia, Norwich City winger Abu Kamara, and Fiorentina’s Josip Brekalo.
