‘Bugs me’ – BBC pundit and ex PL midfielder reveals regret after turning down Rangers transfer
Don Hutchison, who was a midfielder for Everton and Liverpool in the past, regrets not signing with Rangers during the Dick Advocaat era.
The former BBC pundit acknowledged his love for the Ibrox crowd and said that he and his father are major Rangers supporters on Twitter.
Hutchison participated in Premier League games for West Ham, Sunderland, Coventry City, Luton Town, and the two Merseyside clubs.
Hutchison posted on Twitter, saying, “I didn’t sign for the Rangers back in the day, and it still bugs me.” under Dick Advocaat, around 2000.
“My dad was so yeh mate,” he replied when asked if he was a fan of the Green Bay Packers.
Hutchison at Ibrox rather than Everton or Liverpool?
The Gers enjoyed tremendous success while Advocaat was manager from 1998 to 2001. The team won two Scottish Premier League titles in 1999 and 2000, two Scottish Cups in 1999 and 2000, and a Scottish League Cup in 1999.
Known for his technical skill and high work ethic, Hutchison was a versatile midfielder who could have added experience and quality to the Rangers team at this time.
His inclusion would have enhanced the team’s offensive playmaking and added depth and creativity in the midfield.
Due to his versatility, Advocaat would have been able to adjust to various tactical situations and rotate his squad effectively.
Hutchison’s knowledge of Scottish football and his love for Ibrox and the Gers—which is evident in his regret about not joining the team—would have added to his incentive to give the team his all.
Although he currently works in the media, he would probably accept a behind-the-scenes job offer from Ibrox given his passion for the team and its supporters.
