Some supporters want Clement fired since the Gers are currently six points behind Aberdeen and Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Lindsay, though, thinks the Belgian strategist has performed admirably at Ibrox despite having few resources, and he doesn’t think anybody else can.

The reporter advised the Light Blues to support Clement with resources and trust rather than giving up on him.

In his column for The Herald [26 October], he stated, “The current man in charge is an experienced and accomplished coach who has enjoyed his successes at home and abroad since arriving in this country.”

Given the restricted resources available to the Belgian, could someone else have performed better?

Could a replacement truly make his team the most powerful force in the country overnight?

“The Rangers hierarchy must remain steadfast, disregard any disturbances that might occur in the stands, and provide their man with the support, structure, and players he needs to accomplish his goals and put an end to the managerial hiring and firing spree they have been engaged in since Gerrard left.” But if they do, it will be unexpected.

Philippe Clement running out of time at Rangers

Gordon Dalziel believes John Gilligan won’t choose to fire Clement as the club’s acting chairman, therefore the 50-year-old may be given some leeway until a new CEO and chairman are appointed.

Clement’s employment may also be secure for the time being because firing him would cost the Light Blues several million dollars (David Edgar). Given their current lack of resources, they would want to prevent such.

But if things don’t improve and more supporters start criticizing the manager, the Gers’ management might find it difficult to keep him on board.

The former Monaco manager’s demise may be sealed on Wednesday, October 30, when they play Aberdeen in the Premiership at Pittodrie.

Some have suggested Derek McInnes as a possible Clement replacement, and the Scot’s tactical prowess is undeniable.

But as Lindsay noted, nobody can be certain that a different manager could make Rangers a title contender in an instant.
