Rangers are now planning to accept permanent bids for a “superb” £18,000-a-week player who has struggled to make his mark at Ibrox
According to a recent trade update, Rangers are now prepared to consider permanent bids for a “superb” £18,000-
per-week player who has had difficulty making an impression at Ibrox.
Rangers transfer news
At the end of the season, the Gers are still being linked to potential additions. Oli McBurnie, a striker for Sheffield
United, is one such prospect. The Englishman has expressed his desire to relocate to Ibrox,
citing his childhood passion for the team.
Even though Fabio Silva won the penalty that James Tavernier converted in Rangers’ 3-3 draw with Celtic on
Sunday, the Portuguese playmaker’s loan from Wolves could still become a permanent move in the summer transfer
window despite his lackluster performance.
The Scottish Premiership team is reportedly interested in Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland, who is currently in
form. Frank McAvennie, a former Celtic attacker, has acknowledged that he is worried about Shankland heading to
Ibrox. “I think it’ll be an interesting one if he goes to Ibrox – it’s a real step in the right direction and something
Celtic will have to be aware of – they’ll be worried.”
Rangers to accept bids for “superb” player
Football Insider has reported that Rangers are open to bids for Sam Lammers this summer, as the attacker who
makes £18,000 a week is considered surplus to needs.
According to a recent report, there is uncertainty about the player’s future with the Gers, as he acknowledged he has
no idea what’s next. The player joined Utrecht in the January transfer window, having only made 10 league starts
and not being considered a key player by Philippe Clement.
Therefore, even though Kees van Wonderen, the manager of Heerenveen, has previously praised his “superb work
ethic,” it makes perfect sense to take bids for him into consideration in the coming months.
The brutal reality is that, even though he is currently playing much better in the Netherlands—he has scored seven
goals in just 13 games for Utrecht since January—his total of just two goals and two assists apiece in 31 appearances
for Rangers is not good enough, especially for an attacker. As such,
the Scottish giants should consider their other options.
It is unclear if they will choose to sign Silva or Abdalla Sima on a long-term basis, but Shankland seems like the best
choice given that he has scored the most goals in the Scottish Premiership (20) thus far in 2023–2024.
