BREAKING NEWS: Rangers tipped to sack Philippe Clement as board lurch from one problem to another. Verdict passed.

Rangers have had an eventful 10 years since Dave King swept to power and seized control of the club.

Only one season could be described as relatively plain sailing but even that saw two disastrous cup exits.

In terms of the footballing side of Rangers, there is an argument for the current campaign to be the worst since returning to the Scottish Premiership with Philippe Clement struggling to keep control at the wheel.

Rangers hierarchy shambles is buying Philippe Clement time

There have been worse squads and teams, however, with no CEO, no sporting director, no academy director, and no permanent or experienced chairman, the football board is non-existent.

This, and only this, is why Clement won’t be sacked anytime soon.

There is nobody competent enough to make the decision or to then appoint any sort of replacement.

Bizarrely, the manager isn’t concerned:

“Yeah, but the only thing that’s important is about winning our own games.

“That we need to do and to focus on that and to get like that a good vibe again. Getting things better, I think a very positive thing last week was our domestic clean sheet.

“We don’t get a clean sheet today, so we need to take lessons out of that. Why not? Why we didn’t score more goals also, and to become better.

“Is there concern about the six-point gap? No, there’s no concern because we need to be focused on ourselves.

“If you look at the gap all the time, you forget to do what you have to do. It’s about us, we need to win games.”

Clement knows that he is going nowhere

Six points isn’t a lot when there are still 30 league games to play, however, with only one league goal scored away from Ibrox all season, the feeling is that the gap is only going to get worse.

No wonder Clement isn’t concerned though, he has just signed a new contract given to him without any CEO to consult with and there is nobody in place to carry out any sort of performance review.

From winning the league in 2021 to three years later having an underperforming manager who can’t be sacked.

People will do studies into what happened to Rangers in this three-year period as an example of how not to build on success and run a football club.
