Philippe Clement hails ‘quality’ £8m man Rangers reportedly want to sign
Bojan Miovski, an Aberdeen striker valued at £8 million, was strongly linked to Rangers during the January transfer window. Philippe Clement has since expressed his admiration for the player.
Bojan Miovski’s 20th goal of the season had a true “look at what you could have won” feeling to it as the Montenegrin striker held off Connor Goldson and flicked an inventive finish past Jack Butland on the stroke of halftime – Rangers welcoming Aberdeen to Ibrox in Neil Warnock’s Scottish Premiership debut.
The Sun claims that although Rangers are huge fans of the Dons talisman, no deal could be reached during the January window.
“Today, we had a really strong game. A truly commanding performance,” Clement remarked at halftime. “However, these are the kinds of games you have when things don’t go your way during a season. You have multiple opportunities to score during the first half, which you completely control.
And then there is this one instance, which is Miovski’s caliber. He only needs a little to score goals.
Clement destroys Warnock’s bow from Scotland
Sky Sports reports that Aberdeen now values Miovski at about £8 million. Miovski cost them less than £600,000 when he joined from MTK Budapest in the summer of 2022. Later on, if he signs with a Rangers or Celtic team, he will have spent the most money of any player to ever switch Premiership teams.
Rangers did manage to survive that scare sparked by Miovski, though, as Clement’s title-chasing team defeated Warnock in his debut Scottish football match thanks to a goal from the excellent Todd Cantwell in the second half.
The 75-year-old is experiencing his first defeat in his first game as the manager of a new team since 1997.
