Stoke City head coach Narcis Pelach believes no coach knows more about

Norwich City striker Borja Sainz. Pelach is faced with the task of snuffing

out the Norwich City talent he helped create.

Sainz has seven goals this season, which puts him tied with West Brom striker and

former Stoke loanee Josh Maja as the Championship’s top scorer.

Norwich has scored 12 goals in their last four games,

and the Spaniard has been instrumental in causing havoc in opposing defenses, scoring five of those goals, including a hat-trick at Derby County.

Pelach, who holds his compatriot in high regard both as a player and as a person, has disclosed that he wanted Sainz to be brought to England by his previous employers, Huddersfield Town, where he was coached by Carlos Corberan, before Norwich reached an agreement with him after he left Turkish team Giresunspor in the summer of 2023. His first priority is to figure out how Stoke can hold him at bay.

“Borja plays football really well,” Pelach thought. Naturally, I am very familiar with him in both Spanish and English. As the coach in charge of him, I was accountable for his performances in Norwich. I am the coach with the most knowledge on Borja Sainz! We attempted to negotiate a deal since I wanted him in Huddersfield as well, but ultimately we were unsuccessful and ended up in Norwich.
