Luton Town Agree deal with Barcelona for loan Move of Young Midfielder
Luton Town dropped from the Championship to non-league football in the late 2000s after an unbelievable three
straight relegations. The team was in disarray and was playing football for the first time in its existence in the
Conference.
Although Luton was performing well in the Conference, they needed some time to battle their way back out of the
division.
After winning 30 of their 46 league games, the Hatters ultimately concluded the 2013–14 season as champions with
an incredible 101 points. The club’s subsequent ascent to prominence is widely known; in just nine years, it went
from being in non-league to the Premier League—a true fairytale.
Despite reaching the bright lights of the top flight and growing immensely as a club, Luton Town fans will look back
on their non-league days with pride as they created some wonderful moments and had some memorable players on
their books.
Andre Gray, in particular, is one player from their non-league days that they will look back on fondly, as his
goalscoring record was simply sublime.
The forward began his career at Shrewsbury Town, but he was cut loose as a young player after just five games, and
he now plays for Hinckley United in the non-league.
Gray was signed by Luton Town in March 2012, initially on loan, after he scored several goals for Hinckley.
The contract was later made permanent in the summer for a meager £30,000.
Despite only playing for the Hatters for two complete seasons, he scored a lot of goals and won over many
supporters during that time. Gray was the team’s leading scorer in both seasons and finished with an incredible 55
goals across all competitions over the span of two years.
