“I really loved Celtic”, striker reveals regrets after £4m departure
Oh, a former Celtic striker, has claimed that he has no regrets about leaving Paradise this summer. After only a year and a half at Celtic, the South Korean attacker joined Belgian side Genk.
Oh scored 12 goals in 47 games, but when Idah arrived, it was evident that he wasn’t in Brendan’s plans. The forward told the Glasgow Times that he had no regrets and adored the club.
“I had lost my place in the national squad since I no longer played for Celtic.
“That’s when I realised I needed to get a transfer.
“Now I’m in a terrific spot here.
“I scored 12 goals for Celtic in total, but I haven’t played much in the past six months.
“They’d brought in a new striker with a different profile – a big, strong guy – and they needed to find a way to accommodate me.
“I thought it was a shame at first because I adored Celtic. It’s a fantastic club.
“But when Genk called, I did not hesitate.
“I had a couple possibilities in the English Championship, but I really wanted to come here.
“When you look at all the guys who have been through here – Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois, Leandro Trossard, and others. “That is impressive, isn’t it?”
Oh will want to create an impression in European football in Belgium. It was evident that he possessed raw abilities that may have resulted in him doing well for Celtic. Ange clearly rated the talent, but Brendan was not impressed, resulting in Idah’s departure from Norwich.
The Belgians paid £2.5 million, but the contract contained add-ons worth up to £4 million. Celtic then returned to Norwich and completed a permanent deal for Idah valued a total of £9 million.
